Background

Reading can be a tough thing to get into—people feel like they need to be a “good reader,” and if you’re not, you’ll be judged by those who are. Do you read enough, are you reading books people will think are “deep” enough, etc.

This leads to many outside of the bibliophile space feeling like there is too many barriers to picking up a book in the first place—with Amazon Books we set out to change that.

Idea: Booksona

Booksona took the insight that there was a whole group of potential readers out there, that just didn’t know where to start and made the idea of picking up a book approachable.

Through a highly interactive, playful and engaging quiz we asked people a series of questions that in the ended gave them a customized Booksona. Their Booksona not only gives them an a personality type within reading they can identify with, but also unlocks a list of recommendations of books we think they might like as a starting point, all completely custom based on the answers they gave to the quiz.
